AFC PORTCHESTER B Sat Under 11 2 Bradley Hill, Mathew Davies (Debut Goal) V GRAYSHOTT FC 3 A very well rounded game with both teams equally matched, AFC Portchester took an early lead from a great run from Ben Parrott laying on Bradley Hill to strike home. Grayshott took some time to settle down but then came back with an equalizer 15 mins later. AFC Portchester piled on the pressure but at half time it was level at 1 v 1. Second half AFC Portchester came out charging to take a 2 v 1 lead with a debut goal from Mathew Davies inside the 18yrd box.. Grayshott responded to this with an onslaught on Porchies goal but with some blinding saves from our goal keeper Shaun Thompson and some good defensive work we kept them at bay. A silly mistake cost us the game as a clearance took a rebound off a defender and bounced back in to our goal.. The main concern for us is the midfield with too many gaps appearing and players being pulled out of position.. We could have won this game with more consistency in the midfield.. All in all a good competitive game off football and the first game played since Nov 09 so not to bad. Under 12 Sat played Bishops Waltham Dynamos at Portchester School. This was a very cold, tough match and after going behind twice Portchester ended up winning 5-3 in our 6th consecutive win. Scorers were Matthew Clements with 2, and Reece Tuppen, Alfie Green and Matthew Denford scoring one each. On Sunday AFC Portchester U13B vs Pickwick D at home today. We didn’t play as well as in previous games but we were still too strong for Pickwick. When we played the ball around we created some good chances and the score line could have been more.. Goal scorers today were Harry Fisher 1, Conner Anderson 1, Chris Spackman 1, Nathan Burton 1, Kai Reed 2, Will Ford 2, Tobias Wallis 3, and Ellis Meads-Woolley 3. The U14s Sunday team played their first double header of the season today against the top of the table Pickwick Youth. Starting 2pts behind but with 3 games in hand, the team knew the opportunity existed to go top after the 2 x 40 min games. Portchester took an early lead and despite increasing pressure failed to convert a number of scoring chances. A long ball over the top saw the Pickwick forward collect and calmly slot in an equaliser on their first attempt on goal and finish the half 1-1. The second half continued with Portchester controlling most of the game but Pickwick looking dangerous on the break. Pressure finally told and Portchester took a deserving lead 15mins to go and held on comfortably to win the first game. The second match kicked off with Pickwick fired up and on the front foot and quickly took the lead within 5 mins. Portchester weathered the storm and began to fight back equalising before half time. The second half was an even fought game with end to end football, great saves, missed chances and an exciting match for all supporters. Portchester finally took one of their chances and went 2 -1 up but with 8mins to go Pickwick deservedly scored following increasing pressure. With scores level and the game finely balanced, the game could have gone either way, but Portchester turned it up a gear and scored 3 goals in 5 mins to put it beyond Pickwick despite a late consolation goal. The second match finishing 5-3 to Portchester, 6pts in the bag and leapfrogging the top of the table. A great team performance from all the players but special mention goes to Daniel Crooks – outstanding at centre half, Olly Holgado having their best player in his pocket and Tom Frost for his hatrick over 2 games! Mini Soccer U10 Saturday's played their first game of 2010 and also since mid November against Waltham Wolves at Wicor on a cold a hard pitch, the games was mostly played in the Waltham half with AFC Portchester running out 7 - 2 winners, Callum Reynold netting 5 with the other goals coming from Morgan Frost & George Bruce, The manager wanted to say well done to each of the boys who have not played in such a long time and only 2 training sessions in that time for a great game and some excellent passing.
